This message is a bit overdue, and I apologize. I announced on Instagram that I was taking a couple of weeks off from baking, and meant to send a note to all of you who are not on Instagram. But life has been nuts, and it fell to the bottom of my endless to-do list.
Right now we are in the car headed to North Carolina to celebrate Liliana’s graduation.
It was the fastest 4 years of my life…..And I think I know why. When your kid(s) are happy- time flies. It’s the tough times that seem to crawl by at a snail's pace.I think Lil will really miss her college life though I am sure her next chapter will be amazing as well.
Our car is sorta quiet. Lance is driving and on a work call. And our only passenger is Boeden. Bensten qualified for States for track, and in the fine print, it said that if you qualify, you must participate- regardless of your sister’s college graduation. So I have lots of friends pitching in to get him to and from school/practices/etc. Izzy will be in town, but working. I will show you a picture of our fridge- I am neurotic. And worry so much. And feeding is my comfort, so I made sure he had all his meals made and planned. Plus staying home “alone” is a good life experience! (Or so I keep telling myself!)
Izzy will drive to meet him in Charlottesville on Saturday, watch him run his races and then drive straight to Davidson- the graduation ceremony is Sunday morning!
Another reason I need some time off from baking is to focus on the latest Boeden development. As many of you know, we repeated his neuropsychological testing and were pretty shocked to see the results. Thankfully, my amazing therapist got us a meeting with Bill Stixrud and can I just say (again) that man is BRILLIANT. And he was genuinely intrigued by our Boeden. He has seen it all over his career- and he had lots of thoughts. When he heard that Boeden has fixed a snowblower and installed an irrigation system, yet his reading achievement is so far behind, he very carefully and kindly asked if we had ever done “brain imaging for Boeden”. Turns out there is something called CERT- essentially it’s night seizures that often go unnoticed. But CERT goes hand in hand with ADHD and Sleep Apnea, both of which Boeden has. Our good friend is a peds ICU doctor and hooked us up with an amazing neurologist- who we see next week. Apparently they will schedule a “sleep deprived EEG”. Lance and I looked at each other and were like oh boy this could be hard!!! Maybe we take shifts keeping him awake?!!? But a tired Heather is not a good baker, hence why I am taking some time to focus on Boeden and his tests!
But I did just realize next weekend is Memorial Day, so depending on when we get back from North Carolina, I might try to offer a few items for your holiday picnics and whatnot!
And I will still deliver all special orders that were previously placed! Just trying to juggle a lot right now….both boys also have birthdays in the next few weeks!
Hope you all are surviving the end of school insanity!
Xo,
Heather
