Boobs and Boo
Today’s blog is going to be a little more serious than usual (Despite the title!)
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. And for those of you who have never been directly or indirectly affected by cancer, I am here to tell you that it is HELL.
I am also here to beg you to get your preventative screenings.
My sister was only 40 years old when she was diagnosed with late-stage breast cancer. She had four daughters, the youngest of whom was only five years old.
It rocked her family. It rocked our entire family. But most of all, it rocked my sister and changed her life forever.
Her treatment was brutal. Her body was ravaged by surgeries, chemotherapy, and radiation. And while I have certainly done my fair share of complaining about perimenopause, I know that for women who have battled breast cancer, the challenges can be so much greater. Many are unable to use hormone therapies that might otherwise help ease the symptoms.
Kir did indeed kick cancer’s ass. But cancer sure as hell put up a fight.
So please, consider this your nudge, your reminder, or even me begging you to schedule those screenings.I had a special order for 500 cookies on the same day as my mammogram, and somehow, I managed to get both done.
And if you need me to bribe you with cookies to convince you to get your mammogram, just say the word.
I mean it. ❤️
And we are opening orders for our Halloween menu a bit early so you can plan ahead...so the next two week are open on our site now!
xo, Heather
