Lobster Rolls and Trauma Calls.

Juxtaposition is the word of the summer at our house.

Lil started her job at a big law firm downtown. So far they have had surprise cotton-candy margaritas mid day. A dedicate dbarista. Catered lunch every day- to include lobster rolls. Swag. A roaming ice cream cart. They have a “Workplace Experience Team” to plan all these fun activities. And she has the nicest co-workers and supervisors.

Izzy had a banner week at work with 3 traumas. (Up until this week, in her 2 years of work, she had responded to 2 traumas, so 3 in one week is unheard of.) She was also hit by bodily fluids twice and let’s just say her only exposure to lobster was when a kid came in anaphylactic due to shellfish exposure. She does have great co-workers, but no catering unless you count when Schone’s Scones sends free cookies!

So our house is a respite for Izzy, and lame for Lil! On Thursdy Lil worked from home, so we messed with her and created our very own “work place experience” team and even included some pet therapy!!  (She opted to go back into the office Friday!)

So when I am not baking, I am the head of the Matthew Mills “Workplace Experience Team” 🙂 Boeden is less impressed by snacks and is still looking for broken lawn equipment. So if any of you have broken lawn mowers, leaf blowers etc, please let us know if you would like him to take them off your hands. (And to my very kind sister, no thank you to the chainsaw!)  He has loved working on a power washer and mower so far, and I now have a membership card at Advanced Auto Parts! Didn’t even know that store existed til Boeden came along!

And Bensten has been really mastering driving and should be taking his test soon. He has also been meeting with college coaches and his next phase is rapidly evolving. I am a mix of thrilled and petrified. But you can rest assured that our Workplace Experience team will expand to whatever state he heads to for college next year!

Attached is next week’s menu- baking on Thursday again!

xo, Heather
