A Morning I Didn't Need to be Needed

This morning was weird.
My alarm went off at 6am, and I couldn't remember why I even set an alarm. It was Saturday. And my boys are officially on summer break. Why would I need to be up early!?
TIME TRIALS! Swim team. Crap!! It's already summer swim!!!
BUT, Izzy and Lil are still helping out with coaching when their work schedules allow, and Bensten is a junior coach. So all 3 were “working” the meet. And for the FIRST TIME EVER, Boeden woke up excited about a swim event. He wasn’t anxious and didn’t “need” Lance or me to be there with him.
I kinda felt like it was a dream.
So all four kids left at 6:45am and Lance and I got to drink our coffee and leisurely get ready and not leave until 7:45. I know it sounds simple, but it was soooo nice, They fed themselves (okay, mostly. I had some stuff made ahead of time). They got ready and had their bags all packed with ZERO help from me. I know I am supposed to feel a little sad, like my babies are growing up- but there was zero sadness. I was 100% thrilled. I honestly never expected Boeden to be okay with going to a swim meet. And I love when my kids can all do stuff together!
Anyway- it was a great morning. Our boys swam, our girls coached and Lance and I got to sit and watch. There is something so wholesome about summer swim at the Langley Club. The big kids encouraging the little kids. The coaches that have grown up on Live Oak Drive. I have to say, there is something very special about our pool. Hence why our kids prefer to stay in town for the first 6 weeks of summer. They coach. They swim. It’s who they are, and that makes me very happy!
So I will likely be baking for the next 6 weeks. After that, we have a few trips planned, and also some college tours for Bensten! So my baking schedule will be a bit erratic….But I will keep you all posted!
I hope your summer is off to a great start! And heads up- we are switching to our summer schedule- baking on Thursdays starting this week!
Xo,
Heather
