SURPRISE!

Updated: Oct 9

I love surprises.

If you follow my personal instagram, you have seen the many iterations of me flying a college kid home and surprising the rest of the family. Some of the surprises have worked better than others….But what’s not to love about a kid coming home!!!  I am giddy when I know there is a surprise on the horizon!

Liliana is at college in North Carolina- and she is also on the swim team. She practices 6 days a week, so there is no chance that she can travel home between September and February. (She gets a few days for Thanksgiving and a week and a half for Christmas.)  So, she misses her bed. And we miss everything about having her at home.

But this past Friday, both of her classes were canceled. And her coach canceled Friday afternoon and Saturday morning practice. So if she came home, she would only miss one practice…..Of course we immediately booked a flight. But ‘we’ meant just me and Lil…cause Lil knows I live for any opportunity to surprise the rest of the family.

But this surprise was going to be dicey. She had to come after practice on Thursday which meant she wouldn't land until 10:30pm. During the day I could sneak out to the airport- but this would be way past my bedtime…Lance would definitely be suspicious.

So on Thursday night, Lil uber’ed from the airport and attempted to surprise everyone…..this little video sums it up. No one can get anything past Izzy. She is locked in 24/7. Lance initially panicked, the result of living with me for far too long. Boeden was beyond confused- do not disturb that kid during REM sleep (but feel free to try again the next morning!!) And Bensten, who I affectionately call my golden retriever- he is always happy to see you- even if he was already half asleep. But he heard the noise and got suspicious- but knew just what to say, even when completely caught off guard!

We had a great weekend together. I swear there is nothing that makes me happier than all my people together under one roof! But I got behind on bakery work- so this is a bit late going out. And today I am headed to PHASE II of Dental Debacle 2024. Uggg, I hate it so much!

This week’s menu is available on our site! Hope you all are having a good week- this weather is AMAZING!!!

Xo,

Heather
