This morning was a bit of a sh#t show. Even despite making several test batches of the new cookies- dealing with frozen raspberries is precarious. Timing is so key. Add in the humid wet air, and let’s just say I have a lot of “reject cookies” on my kitchen counters. (They actually taste fine, but look really ugly!)
Anyway, as I was trying my hardest not to freak out, I ran to the bakery fridge to get more eggs. We literally had 16 eggs left, and that’s exactly how many I needed.
Then I ran to the bakery pantry to get dark chocolate chips and we had 8 cups left, and that’s exactly how many I needed.
Then, Lance asked if I had the menu planned for next week- and I had not even had time to think about it. He has never ever done the menu, but he offered to take a stab at it and I said okay, cause I was busy staring in that big of a shit show.
He pulled up the menu we used last year, and realized next week is Teacher Appreciation Week. I had lost track of days and would have totally missed it.
What’s my point?
I kinda believe in signs. Our family always wishes on 11:11. I would not say I am an overly positive person, but I will say that the two times in my life that I was facing down life or death situations, my mind never once went to the negative option. Not sure why, but I can honestly say I never pictured Lance not surviving his stroke or Bensten not surviving his accident.
I do believe in the power of positive thinking, even though I don’t feel like it’s always possible to be optimistic. Earlier this week, I swear I read an article about a study where they spoke positively to one plant, and it flourished and spoke negatively to another plant, and it died. My brain is such mush, I couldn’t remember where I read it or if it was just a figment of my imagination. I did a quick Google search, and while I didn’t find the exact article, I did find an article about a study where plants were bullied. Sure enough, the bullied plant died.
As much as I would love to keep discussing talking to plants, my kitchen looks like a bomb went off- and I can’t even remember how I ended up on this tangent.
BUT, I am grateful my botched cookies led us to realize next week is teacher appreciation week. True heroes, teachers are positive even when I bet they feel like screaming. They protect our kids. The good teachers make learning so fun, kids don’t even realize they are learning!
Teacher Appreciation Day is technically on Tuesday. So we are going to bake on Tuesday- and offer delivery to most of the local schools. If you want to pick up and deliver yourselves, just put a note in the comments section and we will try to have your order done on the early side!
And we will offer a special Teacher Appreciation sticker, where you can write who it’s to and from. So if you opt for us to deliver straight to school, just include what you want written on the sticker in the comments section!
Off to clean….
