Man, I love Boeden. He may very well break me, but I will die trying to be a good mom to him. But it’s so different from being a mom to my other 3 kids. (Not that there is a manual for parenting- though that sure would be nice!) Seeing Boe stress about stuff that excites most kids really does break my heart. Today his class is going on a field trip to Terrapin Trails- ropes courses, ziplines and lots of fun activities. The permission slip clearly said they don’t have to do anything that is uncomfortable for them. But he is anxious. He kept saying his stomach hurt and the “worry bully" was really bad. So we just tied the worry bully up in a drawer. Like, I can’t get into 2 of my desk drawers today cause in a desperate moment, I thought distracting him with rope was a good idea! And honestly, it kinda worked. We took a picture of the tied up drawer and made it the face on his Apple watch, so if he gets nervous, he can see that the worry bully is stuck in a drawer, not on the field trip with him. He said he felt better, and he hopped on the shuttle with no tears!?!?! Every single day, there is a Boeden situation. Not always bad, just….different. On Easter he came into the kitchen wearing a hard hat that he customized with his company name. He proceeded to wear the hard hat to my parents house as well. No clue why. On Monday he didn’t have school so we went to buy a few new plants. He insisted on buckling the rosemary into a seatbelt. The other plants were free to roam around the car. No clue why. On Wednesday he painted a rock he found and left his paint pens somewhere in his room that Boss could clearly reach….You can see the attached video for the full scenario, but my white carpet is ruined. But he now has a beautiful painted rock. No clue why. Some of you know I have been dealing with another back flare up. I have done lots of PT and dry needling in the past- but my PT moved away recently. I was really uncomfortable this week, so my mom made an appointment for me with her chiropractor, who sent me for x-rays. The films showed a small fracture and some disk misalignment- which I don’t think is a big deal (the orthopedic surgeon didn’t seem overly concerned- I just have to go for an MRI) but Boeden took it very seriously. He won’t let me carry anything heavy. He has offered to massage my feet. He has been incredibly sweet. And in this instance, I know why! That kid has the biggest heart. He feels everything a little more intensely than the average kid. Most days his crazy antics exhaust me, but there are some days that his crazy big heart stops me in my tracks and makes me very grateful to be his mom! Next week we will bake on Friday again! Hop on the site at 2pm today to place orders! -Heather
