I am so behind....

I am so sorry- we are totally behind. Our 2pm Friday drop is going to be more of a 4pm drop!

As many of you know, we spent much of the past few weeks fixing up a rental property in McLean. This is the first time that all of our kids have been home, and on break from school when we have tackled a rental property project. It was so much fun to have them all help us. Sure, we had professionals doing the majority of the work, but there were lots of little projects that we all did together. And then there were projects like removing a gigantic hedge that was not on the initial to-do list, but the landscaper suggested it, and our kids liked the idea, so on a whim, we attacked a massive bush! The curb appeal improved 100%- the realtors even said so! So it was a very concrete way for the kids to see a tangible example of their hard work paying off! The realtors were coming to take pictures at 3pm yesterday- and the kids and I stopped by the house at 2pm to make sure everything was ready. We noticed the floors were dirty, but didn’t have a mop, or much time. So we all got on our hands and knees with rags and Fabulosa. When the realtor walked in, one of her first questions was if we had the floors refinished! Such satisfaction, as we all stood there dripping with sweat!

And last but not least- shout out to Tom Wilson for signing a 7 year contract with the Caps. We first met Tom when the Caps reached out to Bensten after his accident. I have said many times what a class act the Washington Capitals are- but Tom takes it to another level. He has remained close with our family, and has been such an amazing role model for Bensten. I know most people think of Tom as a bruiser on the ice- and he kinda is- but he is one of the nicest most generous people I have ever met. No joke. He has such a good heart. In fact, Bensten had to do a school project this past year. The assignment was to interview someone. He came home and said “I think I will interview either you for the bakery or Tom Wilson.” I was pretty sure I got the gig, I mean, a professional athlete surely wouldn't have time for an 8th grade Broadcasting project. Wrong. Tom was so gracious- totally happy to do it. Even came over here to be interviewed.

So we are very happy to know that the Wilsons are here for the long haul!

And, this is likely my last week baking in August! We are headed out of town and then to deliver the girls back to school. So you can be certain I will be a baking maniac in September as I adjust to life without my girls!!

Xo, Heather
