A One Sided Love Affair....

There are so many things I think we should be taught before becoming adults.
How to do family planning that doesn't result in more than one birthday every month. (Two months between birthdays would be ideal. I know...if only it worked that way!)
How to switch to the summer schedule without completely losing your ever-loving mind.
How to teach your kids to entertain each other without killing each other...so you can actually get some work done.
None of these seem remotely possible in my mind.
I live for summer. I absolutely love it. But every year it completely rocks my world until we settle into some sort of routine.
This was technically our first real week of summer. Lil had been home helping so much, and then she started her new job (which is going amazingly well—but that's probably another blog post). Suddenly I lost my favorite chauffeur.
Then came Boeden's doctor's appointments. Let's just say watching your little guy disappear into an MRI tube tugs at your heartstrings. I held it together right up until they slid him in and the nurses disappeared into their little control room. The room was freezing—they even gave me a heated blanket—but somehow I started sweating profusely and wondered if I was going to be the one needing medical attention. Thankfully I pulled myself together because the last thing Boeden needed was for his MRI to take longer because his mom passed out.
Meanwhile, Bensten's routine dentist appointment turned into his first cavity, which added another hour to the day. And when your schedule is already packed, an unexpected hour can throw everything off.
Oh...and bakery day happened to fall on Izzy's birthday, so between baking, making her favorite dinner, and squeezing in an extra dessert, I was officially running on fumes.
Then I looked at the calendar.
ANOTHER. FREAKING. HOLIDAY.
So next week we'll be leaning into the chaos with lots of red, white, and blue treats! We'll be baking on Thursday, July 2, and the menu is below.
I hope your transition into summer has been a little more graceful than mine!
Xo,Heather
