A few things you might not know....

A few things you may or may not know about me.

  • I love giving gifts.

  • Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday.

  • Growing up, during the holiday season, we would get together with our family friends and make hundreds of sandwiches for the homeless and go deliver them in DC. (That tradition ended the year my youngest brother was offered a french fry from a nice homeless man, and not only took it, but ate it!!)

  • INOVA has saved two of our family member’s lives.

So to celebrate all of my favorite things, our family is hosting a toy drive for INOVA Fairfax Children’s Hospital this holiday season. Many of you probably know about my love for the Child Life program at INOVA. Having been the recipient of their kindness, and then watching Izzy’s love of nursing develop while she interned for them, it is truly a wonderful group that has mastered making the hospital much less scary for children, while also helping the parents navigate their child’s medical situation.

We worked with the INOVA Child Life team to get a list of their most needed items. (But feel free to pick your favorite unwrapped toys!)

The Amazon wishlist link is attached, and there is also a link from our website. You can order the items online and they will be delivered to our house, and we will have bins on our porch if you prefer to drop off! Additionally, I opened up lots of “donate baked goods to hospital” on our Schone’s Scones website. Sometime between Thanksgiving and Christmas, we will schedule a time to deliver all of the collected toys along with the baked goods to INOVA!

We would love for you to help us support INOVA Children’s this holiday season!

(And this picture is of my youngest brother with Bensten in the hospital after the accident. Suffice he still turned out okay, despite taking food from homeless people when he was a child!)

Thank you for being such a special part of my life! I am so grateful for our bakery family!

Xo,

Heather
