What's cooking this week...

Today I was thinking about holidays. Holidays take on new meaning once you become a mom, since we tend to equate holidays with extra work and being tired. Not to sound cranky and jaded- I LOVE HOLIDAYS! But the concept shifts when you become a parent. And it does start to feel like there are A LOT of holidays….. And I definitely get carried away. Anyway, I was just trying to think why that might be the case. My first thought is that it’s awesome to see life through the eyes of our kids. There is a sweet innocence to Santa and leprechauns. I used to worry that my big kids would maybe spoil the holiday spirit but we have a rule that Santa (or whomever) only comes if you believe. So you better believe!! And honestly, my big kids have actually been super helpful in keeping the spirit alive around here!! (Don’t get me started on those elves. Elf on the shelf would not exist at this house without Iz and Lil’s help!!) Plus I love seeing my kids get excited about bizarre things like jelly beans that turn into lollipops overnight and green milk! (Jaded Heather looks at it as wasted jelly beans and wasted milk!!) Anyway, I love holidays, but I also know they sneak up on us! So my goal is to help you all celebrate even the more obscure holidays! So despite not having an Irish bone in my body- we are gearing up for St Paddy’s Day! We will bake on Thursday so the leprechauns can deliver your items in time to surprise your kids on Friday! But since I am running behind, you might have to use your imagination on the cinnamon roll cake- since I don’t have a picture. But it’s the exact same cake as the King Cake, but all green sugar on top! And instead of a baby hidden inside, there will be a gold or green metallic coin hidden inside! (And of course, whoever finds the coin receives endless good luck!) And the cake will be adorned with St Paddy’s Day trinkets similar to the picture! But I can only make so many, so they will likely sell out quickly! Hop on our site at 2pm today to snag one! And then we will offer our holiday staples- green M&M cookies, Lucky Rice Krispy Treats (marshmallows similar to those in Lucky Charms cereal) and then Oatmeal Carmelitas, cause every holiday deserves carmelitas! Hope you all are doing well. Heather
